Future Superstars Attracting Attention
The incoming 2014 NFL draft class is filled with talent, but there is one position that truly stands out. The incoming quarterbacks are stacked with talent and could end up getting to start on multiple teams in their first few seasons.
As everyone knows, the NFL has become a passing league. It's all about throwing the ball and wanting the big, explosive plays. It's all about the quarterback- he's the team leader and is usually the face of the franchise. Without a great arm under center it's a big challenge to succeed in today's league.
Throughout this rookie class there are a few standout gunslingers. The biggest names being Johnny Manziel, Teddy Bridgewater, A.J. McCarron, and Tajh Boyd. McCarron played at Alabama who had only one loss in his final season and won the BCS championship the previous year. Manziel has been the biggest name and the face of college football for his two explosive seasons seasons with Texas A&M. Bridgewater is the number one prospect at quarterback for good reason; his pre-snap awareness and ability to move the ball both on the ground and through the air has separated him from the rest. Boyd is another quarterback who isn't afraid to tuck and run and he was even used to pound the ball in from the goal line multiple times. He can also throw a beautiful deep ball.
With all the talent these young men have, their skills can be put to work right away thanks to all the NFL teams lacking a consistent quarterback. Some of the teams that may be interested include the Jaguars, Texans, Titans, Raiders, and Vikings. Lately young quarterbacks have gotten chances to play in their rookie season much more often than they used to. With so many teams lacking a talented quarterback, all of these premier young talents may get the perfect opportunity.
